I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break, along with the bonus week in January. During our last faculty meeting in December, our teachers gathered together to pray. Specifically, I prayed for three things:
- That the days and weeks would be long during the break.
- That our teachers would get the rest they need.
- That each of our teachers would be able to spend all the time they could with their loved ones.
It has been good to be back this week, but it has been better to see our teachers and their energy and excitement. Attending the in-service training with our teachers last week was invigorating and refreshing. I’ve heard from so many of our teachers how they enjoyed the sessions, what they are doing in their classes, and how they are integrating a Biblical worldview in their lessons. Mr. Brenner, Mrs. Ford, and I will be traveling to Greenville, SC, next week to learn more about Biblical integration and how we can continue to improve in this area at Wayne Christian School. We’ll meet with authors, researchers, and educators for two days. It truly is an exciting time for us.
Another exciting development is the addition of three new members of our school. Mrs. Erin Vohringer is joining us as a kindergarten assistant; he will be assisting Mrs. Greene. We also have a new elementary art teacher. Mrs. Kirsten Stovall is teaching art for kindergarten through fourth grade. You will also notice a new face in the cafeteria as we welcome Mrs. Sherry Mirus. Please join me in welcoming each of these ladies and praying for them as they seek to serve our Lord.
Make sure to mark your calendars for the following dates:
- Next week is Spirit Week
- Friday, January 18 – Homecoming
- Monday, January 21 – Martin Luther King Day, no school
- Friday, January 25 – Popcorn Friday
On a personal note, thank you so much for all of the gifts and cards at Christmas. It was truly a humbling experience to come back from my trip and find my office desk covered in gifts. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for your outpouring of love. You sure do know how to make someone feel special.
Let’s finish this year off strong!
