Monday morning, March 4th, we will board a charter bus at 6:00 am and head to Washington, D.C for four days and three nights. The WCS Junior Trip is always a highlight of the high school experience. The Junior Trip is unique in that it is an educational trip to our nation’s capital. While there, we will stay at the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD. On day one, we will visit the Reagan Building and see a piece of the Berlin Wall, tour the National Archives and see first-hand all of our nation’s documents of freedom, go to the Old Postal Pavilion Bell Tower where we will see a great view of the city, and tour the Holocaust Museum where we will remember the horrors of the Holocaust. Day two, we will tour the White House and honor the office, and spend an afternoon at the AMAZING new Museum of the Bible where we will experience scripture like NEVER before. That evening, weather permitting, we will enjoy a Monuments by Moonlight tour of the Jefferson Memorial, the FDR Memorial, the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial, the Korean War memorial and the Lincoln memorial. Day Three we will receive a VIP tour of the U.S. Capitol by the office of Rep. David Rouzer. We will visit several of the Smithsonian museums, including Air and Space, the new African-American Museum, the Museum of American History, and the Museum of Natural History. Then we will go ice skating in the Sculpture gardens, ride the Metro, and shop that evening at Fashion Center Place. Day four before heading home we will visit the WWII memorial, the Iwo Jima memorial, visit Arlington National Cemetery and witness the changing of the guard. Each year it is my sincere hope that students will take away a deep respect for our nation and want to return to the capital with their own family one day. We covet your prayers for safety and a life-changing experience. Be watching for picture updates from the road!
