Have you ever had pound cake? I have. And, now it’s my favorite. Let me explain.
Have you ever had a bad day, or, maybe even a bad week. Well, I have. In fact, a couple weeks ago, Kim and I were struggling with some news that really through us for a loop. We were down in the dumps. I have to admit, I was even feeling sorry for myself.
Eager to make myself feel better, I hopped in my car and headed to Middle Grounds Coffee House, @mgchgoldsboro. in downtown Goldsboro. The coffee was great. But, I was still in a bad place. I needed something more … biscuits!
It was Saturday, so I drove over to Ashley’s Diner on William Street for some biscuits and gravy. 3,000 calories later … I was feeling worse (the biscuits were great!).
Then I got a text, “Are the Brenners home?” Little did I know, my day – and outlook on life – would change dramatically.
About an hour later a lovely couple arrived at our door with a pound cake. They shared with us that the Holy Spirit prompted them to give us a call, and bringing a pound cake was the perfect excuse to invite themselves over. They spent the next hour listening and sharing life stories and praying with us. All I can say about the visit is, “WOW!”
God provided exactly what we needed … the testimony and care this couple showed us. I praise God and thank Him that they heeded His prompting and brought us that pound cake.
Are you heeding God’s prompting? It doesn’t have to be big deal. It can be as simple as giving someone a call and bringing them a “pound cake.” If you don’t have the recipe, I can put you in touch with someone who has a great one.
Never underestimate the power of a pound cake.
