WCS Welcomes New Elementary Teachers

Wayne Christian School is pleased to announce the hiring of three new teachers in our elementary school. Deanna Ryan will be teaching kindergarten, Joy Wood will be teaching first grade, and Britney O’Hara will be teaching fourth grade.

“I’m really excited about these three new teachers,” says Mr. Miranda, elementary principal. “They show a true passion for Christian education, and we are happy to welcome them to the WCS family.”

Deanna Ryan comes to us with 3 years of experience teaching in the public schools. She holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Mount Olive and a Master’s degree in elementary education from East Carolina University; she is also licensed as a Birth-Kindergarten and Kindergarten-6th grade teacher by the state of North Carolina. Mrs. Ryan believes “it would be a blessing to have the freedom to merge my passion for teaching and children with my passion for Christ in a way to help my students learn more about God and the Bible and to eventually lead them to Christ.”

Joy Wood has 11 years of experience as a teacher and curriculum facilitator in the Wayne County Public School system. She graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and is licensed as a Kindergarten-6th grade teacher by the state of North Carolina. Mrs. Wood is excited about the opportunity to teach at WCS and is looking forward to sharing her faith and integrating a Biblical worldview into her students’ daily learning.

Ms. O’Hara

Britney O’Hara is a graduate of Wayne Christian School (class of 2012). She completed a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Trinity College of Florida in May and did her student teaching at First Christian Academy in New Port Richey, FL. Ms. O’Hara states that she “wish(es) to teach at a Christian school because I recognize the importance that having a Christian worldview has on a person’s life. As a Christian educator, the possibility is there to disciple and pour into your students by teaching them not only about the world around them but also the God who created it.”
