The Greatest Commandment

The Craig Family

From Kevin Craig, elementary assistant principal

It feels like we have been at Wayne Christian School for years, but we have actually only been here for twelve short weeks. Our family hit the ground running at the end of July when we moved to Goldsboro from Texas. Moving is never easy but we are so thankful to be here. We have truly been welcomed by everyone with open arms.

Our experience here at Wayne Christian School so far, reminds me of one of my favorite Scripture passages from the Gospel of Mark. In Mark 12 we find Jesus being questioned about the “Greatest Commandment” and Jesus responded by saying, “The first of all the commandments is: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” (vv. 30-31)

Our family has seen and experienced the greatest commandment being lived out in the lives of the administration, staff, parents, and students here at Wayne Christian School. We have been invited to many churches and invited to lunch and in homes. We have been given advice on good restaurants and things to do in the area. We have been constantly asked, “How are you doing?”, “How are you adjusting?” and other questions, just to check on us. We are truly grateful for the outpouring of support, encouragement, and love that has been shared with us over the past three months. This is truly a family of people who love God and love people.

Jesus tells us that we are to love God with all our being and we cannot love God without loving others. The Wayne Christian School family has done just that for our family since we have arrived in Goldsboro. We are so blessed to be serving alongside a group of families that are living out what Jesus calls the greatest commandment and we are so excited to be part of this great family.
