It’s February! See what’s happening in our elementary.

Can you believe that January is already over? It seems like it was just last week that we got back from our Christmas break. But here we are – it’s already February and the 100th day of school is on Thursday, February 7. Here are a few dates to remember in February:

  • February 4 – Open House at 8:30 for prospective families
  • February 4 – Parent Information Meeting at 6:30 at Freedom Baptist Church
  • February 5 and 6 – Second Grade Bake Sale
  • February 4-8 – Food Service Workers Appreciation Week
  • February 11 – NAEP Assessment for fourth grade
  • February 15 – WCS Spelling Bee for 5th-8th grades
  • February 19-22 – STEM Week at WCS
  • February 20 – STEM Fair
  • February 22 – Popcorn Friday

Somewhere in between all of these dates, we’ll also celebrate Valentine’s Day and President’s Day.

I have to tell you, I am very excited about the upcoming STEM Fair in February. We have forty students in 3rd-6th grades that have expressed an interested in participating in the STEM Fair and I’m excited to see what they will come up with. We will send additional details about the STEM Fair close to the date. Our 4th-graders have been selected to take NAEP, and they will represent thousands of other students across the United States. You can learn more about NAEP and why participation is so important at http://1.usa.gov/WiTIxT.

I was recently reminded of how awesome our school is and why it is so critical for all of us (parents, schools, and churches) to partner together in developing a Christian worldview for our children. Jeff Keaton wrote a blog, that you can check out at https://www.renewanation.org/blog/beliefs-matter, where he lists out the beliefs of many in our world today. Secularism is not a problem that exists somewhere else that we can just ignore. It is our present reality and one that we must all work together against. Please continue to pray for our school as we continue to work together in shaping a Biblical worldview in the lives of our children.
